"Words", by Kip Baldwin
Words I hate words
So small and imperfect
Explaining everything and nothing
What impact will they have
As they fade into our minds
Can we twist them quick enough
So they have no impact at all
Rationalizing everything

MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: TINA TELLES
Tina is an actress that stays busy by shooting short films and helping filmmakers around the area. Most of us know her as tinamarie525 on the UFA website shout box who seems to have at least one daily wish for a good morning or even a full conversation with herself right there where we all can see. I met Tina on the set of a book trailer shoot where she, like all of us there, were supporting the efforts of a fellow filmmaker who was trying to find his niche. She was enthusiastic, prepared and fun to work with just as you would imagine she would be from her upbeat posts on the web site. We make Tina our featured member this week because she gets involved, stays plugged in and is always there to wish you a good morning. Thanks Tina for all you do, keep up the good work!

UFA Announces first in series of free webinars
July 21st, the United Filmmakers Association launches their first in a series of live webinars, this installment hosted by our very own Allen Larson. He will go into detail on what it takes to be a successful/working actor. Allen draws from his 12+ years as a Personal Manager for talent in Los Angeles, his work as head coach at The Actors Gym in Burbank, his casting experience, his work as a film/TV producer and from his internationally distributed acting textbook, “TV1: Acting in Commercials.”
MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: HASSAN ZEE
Hassan was born in Pakistan. He went to Medical School and became a doctor. After moving to the United States in 1998, he pursued his passion of making films. He wrote, produced and directed Night of Henna, the first Pakistani-American film in history distributed all over the US theatrically. Bicycle Bride is his second feature film, which has been picked up for theatrical Release. Everybody loves the film and it’s a HIT. Please check the website www.bicyclebride.com. Hassan has also found some very unique ways to distribute a film. If you haven’t had the pleasure of meeting this innovative filmmaker and hearing his approach, then come to the next mixer on the 17th and hear what he has to say. Hassan, for accomplishing what you have and sharing what you know, you’ve shown us what being a member of the UFA is all about.
Livermore Valley Film Commission
I had a wonderful meeting with Jeanie Haigh at the Livermore Valley Film
Commission. She was able to point out the advantages they offer for productions willing to film in the Tri-Valley area and they are fantastic. This is the first stop in my mission to meet with every film office in the Bay Area so we can advise our members of the in's and out's of shooting in different locations.
SceneTV
Coming soon is SceneTV, an interactive, episodic short project that is designed to give exposure and distribution options to our members. The Bay Area has long been known for it’s dot com and technological achievements, SceneTV will become the ultimate stop for episodic web content and for fans that love the format. Scheduled as a live monthly event, filmmakers will compete to avoid getting canceled and be invited to make the next installment of their short format series. Each episode must be 5 minutes or less, entries to SceneTV are another benefit of UFA membership and are free. This event will premier in late June, so get started on your submissions now. To enter your episodic short, please send a message to Allen Larson here for details. Additional information about this event will be given as we approach the launch date. To connect with others and create your episodic short, go to the SceneTV forum.
